JVC EX-A10

The JVC EX-A10 is a compact home theater system consisting of a DVD player, a matching AV receiver and two speakers. The standard JVC EX-A10 package also comes with a wireless remote control.

DVD Player/Receiver

The EX-A10’s DVD player and the AV receiver each measure 9.6 x 3.1 x 11.7 inches and weighs 6 pounds. Both components use real brushed aluminum in their construction. The DVD player can read regular CDs and DVDs as well as CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, VCD, SVCD and DVD-Audio discs. The player can also playback MP3 and WMA files as well as JPEG photos.

The JVC EX-A10 uses a Hybrid Feedback digital amplifier that gives off lots of power while keeping the distortion levels to a minimum. It also features bi-amplification; with a pair of 30 watt amplifiers driving the woofer and a pair of 20 watt units driving the tweeters.

Speakers

The speaker’s enclosures are made of cherry wood while the tweeters and woofers use sake-soaked birch wood. Each speaker measures in at 5.7 x 10.2 x 9.6 inches (W x H x D) and has a weight of 7 pounds. The JVC EX-A10 utilizes one 0.7 inch dome tweeter and a 3.9 inch cone woofer for each speaker unit. With sake-soaked birch wood the EX-A10 promises a warmer and more natural sound. The black speaker grills can be detached to expose and show-off the birch wood.

The JVC EX-A10 takes me back in time, back to when I was a kid, before everything went digital. I used to carefully clean my records, put them on the turntable, flip sides every 20 minutes, and play music for hours upon hours. This JVC system has that old-time analog feel. Read more

The JVC EX-A10 compact stereo system can thank an unlikely source for its great sound. The EX-A10 uses wood-cone speakers that are soaked in sake, the Japanese rice liquor. This allows the drivers to be shaped in a way that provides strength while reducing distortion. Each two-way speaker has a 3-3/16-inch sake-soaked woofer, as well as a wood-dome tweeter. Read more
