The Panasonic HDC-SD1 digital camcorder captures high definition videos with clear images, fine detail, and rich color. It uses Leica Dicomar lens with 12x image-stabilized optical zoom, five built-in microphones for full surround sound recording, and has a 3-inch wide LCD screen.

The HDC-SD1 digital camcorder is equipped with the 3CCD system that most professional broadcast cameras use. With the 3CCD system, there is absolutely no light loss allowing the HDC-SD1 camcorder to deliver beautifully rendered images, with vivid colors, fine detail, and rich gradation. It can also process large amounts of data with high speed accuracy and precision with the 3CCD HD image processing circuit. The HDC-SD1 also uses the HD Advanced Pure Color Engine which makes your images alive with real life colors. Another feature of the HDC-SD1 is the Tele Macro that allows the user to take extreme close-ups without casting a shadow on the subject and maintaining a soft focus on the background.

This camcorder is amazing. I’m not given to hyperbole but the HDC-SD1 is at the top of the pack for consumer camcorders circa early 2007. Given its size, design—and most important—the quality of its high-def video, anyone looking to be on home video’s razor edge, should check this baby out. Yes, it’s expensive but Porsches tend to cost more than Chryslers. And once you start recording in high-def, standard definition memories will be a thing of the past. • Beautiful... Read more

This camcorder delivers the clearest home movies I have seen so far. I like it because It fits snugly in my hand I can shoot the movies with just one hand. The camera also comes with convenient transfer options to transfer movies to other mediums like dvds, memory cards, etc.. Also, the design is pretty sharp and is agreat conversation starter when I take it out in public. Read more

The reviewer writes: "In case you're wondering why this camcorder has a cooling fan and vents there's a reason it definitely got warm after a long period use but nothing that's a real botherit's just there."
