The Pentax K200D is certainly a unique proposition in the current entry-level DSLR market. While most rival manufacturers are packing in the gadgets on their latest models, Pentax has opted for a more traditional approach, eschewing fashionable features like Live View and instead focusing on controls, customisation and build quality. Like many cameras these days, the K200D shares a number of technologies in common with a former model, but rather than enhancing an... Read more
The latest PENTAX entry-level dSLR, the K200D, is a replacement for the K100D . PENTAX may be marketing the K200D as an enthusiast-level dSLR but it has an impressive list of features including a weather-resistant body, the PRIME image processor, anti-shake and dust removal systems. As you might expect the resolution has increased also and the CCD sensor is now rated at 10.2-megapixel resolution. After further examination the K200D appears to have more in common... Read more

Pentax's K200D entry-level SLR gives a lot of bang for the buck and has better performance than last year's model. Despite low noise and pleasingly detailed images, technically inaccurate colors keep it from capturing the gold medal for image quality. Read more

This is my first attempt at this. So, please bear with me. The K200D is my first digital camera. I shot many rolls of 35mm with a Yashica AF230 I bought to chronical my daughters growth. I have some great shots and a lot junk and some plain old snapshots. So I guess I'm pretty much normal. (Not a chance...LOL) When I retired, I decided to get back into photography. I looked into the Nikon D60 and the Canon XSi. I read many reviews and adds for both of these cameras an... Read more
I have done photography for 42 years. Owned Nikon, Bronica, Hasselblad, Cannon. Have more fun with this camera though it can't do what more specialized cameras can do. Owned a comporable Nikon and find this superior in many ways. Bad thing is rechargable AA batteries. Read more
Read more
I was given a Pentax K1000 over 35 years ago and shot thousands of great images and acquired a decent collection of lenses so when I was finally ready to move up to a digital SLR, I looked to see what Pentax had available. It wasn't until the introduction of the K200D that I was satisfied with the resolution, features and the ability to use my old glass that I felt ready to move up. I have been very happy that I did. I am a big guy at over 6'6" and the size and fee... Read more
I am no photographic expert but this camera is quite good for the amateur who wants photos better than your compacts. I really wanted a good zoom lense to get those close up shots that I cold never do with the smaller cameras I have and with the 18mm-250mm lense the K200D does the job. Read more
