Samsung’s latest entry level Blu-ray player offers significant advantages over its predecessor model (the BD-P1400 that we reviewed earlier of this year). For audio fans, the BD-P1500’s singular most interesting new feature is the ability to pass both Dolby Digital TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio multi-channel bitstreams via the player’s HDMI output, which the earlier model couldn’t do. DVDs are upscaled up to 1080p via HDMI. This player adheres to Profile 1.1 (Bonus View) . The Blu-ray quality was very good, with a slight oversaturation of reds. DVD upscaling was good, but could use slight improvement. The audio performance was excellent, with lots of flexbility with... Read more
The debate can easily go back and forth. Past arguments against the PS3 have been you cannot use a universal remote with the PS3 or the PS3 tends to run louder (because of the fan) than a standalone, and now you can add to the list, it is more expensive than other Blu-Ray players. The picture quality was excellent and the audio playback was exceptionally clear. Read more
Shrewd online shoppers will find the Samsung BD-P1500 for the paltry sum of £170. That’s pretty impressive, considering that just over a year ago the cheapest Blu-ray player was the £300 PlayStation 3. So, the Samsung spinner might have price on its side, but it’s a mixed bag on the features front. Out of the box, the BD-P1500 is only Profile 1.1 enabled, though this isn’t a massive problem as Samsung has a firmware update in the pipeline. You’ll be able to... Read more

I personally have not done this as I don't really care for the current features of BD Live. PROs- Quality player, quiet, very stylish, samsung anynet+ which allows you to control the bluray player by pointing the remote to the TV. This works great for me as I have the player hidden in a closet. Lastly... Read more
