Resident Evil Zero

Resident Evil Zero is a single player game with an ESRB M and BBFC 15 (British Board of Film Classification), using a controller as input method. It is built on the Unreal Engine 2 on the Nintendo GameCube platform. It is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom released in 2002.

Features

On July 23, 1998, STARS (Special Tactics and Rescue Service Bravo team is sent in to investigate a series of grisly murders in the Arklay Mountains region outside of Raccoon City. The game’s storyline serves as a prequel to the first Resident Evil, covering Rebecca Chambers’ (rookie from Bravo Team) ordeal a day prior to the Mansion incident. The main gameplay feature of Resident Evil Zero is that instead of choosing a single character to play through the whole game, the player controls two main characters, Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen, an escaped ex-military convict, simultaneously through the entire game. Both characters can travel together, where one character is controlled by the player and other by the computer, or split up and search separate areas each at the same time. Each character have different attributes, i.e. Rebecca can acquire chemicals with her mixing kit and can get into tight spaces, but has less health whilst Billy can handle heavy objects, has a lighter and can sustain more damage than Rebecca, but cannot mix herbs. Item drop is enabled and allows players to drop items in any location to make space for new ones, and return to pick them up for use at another time. This does away with the use of boxes placed in fixed locations for the player to store items in.

For this game being the prequel to every single RE game out there, Capcom did a pretty decent job on delivering. The game may not be as heavy as the others when it comes to the story since there wasn't a whole lot that could be told that wouldn't be unoriginal, but one is there and it's a very good one! You will learn how the whole RE world and the tragedy was brought about, and why poor Raccoon City has had to suffer so since the occurrence. It does a perfect job... Read more

Something terrible is seeping into the once pristine mountain air. The residents of Raccoon City go about their lives unaware of the dark fate that surrounds them. It’s only the beginning! Sent in to investigate a series of grisly murders in the area, S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team scrambles into action. On the way to the scene, Bravo’s helicopter crashes. Although everyone survives, what they discover next is a gruesome site. An overturned military transport truck, riddled... Read more

Capcom has always been known for making superb games. Ever since its first game in the 80’s, it has risen to new heights. In the mid 90’s they created a little game that would in very little time, turn into a media giant that not many game franchises can stand up to. Resident Evil is one of Capcom’s most popular franchises to date. Not to mention that it has spawned many sequels. Resident Evil 0 is a game that makes you re-think everything you thought you knew... Brilliant game but crippled for deaf gamers by leaving out the subtitles. Let's hope we're not saying the same thing for Resident Evil 2. Read more

Resident Evil 0 has everything going going for it - new story, new characters, new features, new monsters, new puzzles, new areas, new scares. Despite the fact it still has some of the downfalls of previous Resident Evil games, there isn't much that can fault it. There have been comments that the controls are not up to the standard of Eternal Darkness and although this is true it does no harm to the game and within 10 minutes the controls become second nature. There is... Read more
