These headphones have great audio quality. They correctly emphasize frequencies, with a slight boost to mid-range sounds. They only had extremely minimal distortion towards the lowest bassy frequencies, which is normal in on-ear and over-ear headphones. Since they have open backs, the HD 555s aren't the best with sound isolation or leakage. If you want to keep your noise to yourself, or keep external sounds at bay, the HD 555s won't help you out with that.  At $179.99,... Read more

In a world where DVD players costing over £100 are now considered virtually high-end, a £150 pair of headphones needs to be pretty darn special. And luckily, these don't disappoint too much. The first thing you notice is that they're the most comfortable thing you've had on your melon since Gran knitted that ridiculous tea cosy hat for your sixth birthday. But when plugged into a decent hi-fi, the sound is revelatory - clear and sweet, with a healthy dollop of bass.... Read more

I've had these headphones for over a year now and still adore them. I did quite a bit of research on this range of headphones and am still satisfied. My only slight negative is the cord "could" present a problem if you were to stress it since it does not plug in to the actual headset. The cord is long and you have to be mindful of where it is if you use it at a desk with a wheeled chair. Extremely comfortable for the size. The sound is amazing to me. Comment Read more

Sound (5/5) Always a matter of taste, but for me, amongst a vast array of competitors in the store, this one came out lonely on top. The bass response is amazing, tight and detailed - at first I thought is was too much - I had to get use to the warmness of the sound, coming from a natural/cold-corner. The mids and highs are heavenly, sweet and very accurate. As opposed to the hardwired sound of canal-earphones (shure e3-5, for example), the sound stage is extremely roomy... Read more

HD-595 after a long breaking of 60-80 hours does settle down nicely. They are very clear, detailed, smooth, accurate not over or under emphasizing, responsive to the lightest ambiance, more front row forward than others ie HD580, HD600, just the tiniest hint of grain on the most critical listening CD's. This headphone is extremely comfortable for long listening sessions. They respond even better with high end electronics or a good preamp. They are very sensitive enough... Read more

For those who love the Sennheiser sound, these headphones will not disappoint. The warm, powerful bass is there, along with the full midrange. The high-end is a bit muted, but more than adequate for rock and techno-music. Jazz, classical, and acoustic ... Read more

For an all around headphone, the HD595s are a fantastic choice, although they can be pricey. These make a fine purchase for the budding audiophile, or just someone that wants good sound for music, movies and gaming from an easy to drive headphone that doesn't require any special equipment, such as a dedicated headphone amplifier.
