The mouse has 5 buttons. Apart from the standard left and right mouse buttons, the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 features a 4-way scroll wheel that allows users to navigate through long documents, spreadsheets, and web pages without having to use the on-screen scroll bar. This scroll wheel can also be used as an Instant Viewer. When clicked, open windows will be displayed and users can simply click on which ones they want to view. The Microsoft 5000 also comes with a magnifier button. New functions can be reassigned to all buttons using the included software. This software allows users to change the buttons’ functions to a wide variety of alternative shortcuts.
The Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 is powered by a single AA battery that can be recharged using the charging station. It has a battery status indicator located below the scroll wheel so users can easily monitor its battery life. This monitor glows red when battery life is running low.
The Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 is compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista. It connects to computers via 2.4 GHz Bluetooth with First Connect Technology. This has a maximum operating distance of 33 feet.

I have owned this mouse for about 1 year and to tell you the truth it is one of the best mice that i have ever used no draging at all. Side buttons are a bit of a head ache at first but ounce you get the hang of them they are great to have. I am a big time gamer and it is great on the games I play. I use this mouse on my laptop most of the time and my desktop when I am home. I can only say one word for this mouse perfect. Read more
