Running on Intel’s P35 chipset, the abit IP35 Pro motherboard provides many new technologies. While built for higher end users, the IP35 Pro has features that make it usable by both expert and novice PC users and builders. These features, combined with heat reducing technologies make the IP35 Pro a good board for your next project.
System Specs
The IP35 Pro has a 1333/1033 MHz bus with a LGA 775 socket that supports multicore and single core Intel processors. Even though the P35 chipset supports DDR3 RAM, this board has four DDR2 800 dual channel slots that support up to eight GB of total RAM. Even though it is not documented, tests have shown that the P35 chipset, and this board, will generally support DDR2 1066 RAM without issues. The ICH9R southbridge supports RAID with up to six SATA-300 ports, Viiv (or Quick Resume technology which allows the PC to act like a TV, press the power button on the remote and the screen goes dark, the sound is muted, and the keyboard and mouse stop responding) and the new “Intel Turbo Memory,” a disk cache technology using flash memories. The board also uses what abit calls its Silent OTES cooling system. This brass, dual pipe cooler also helps to keep fan noise to a minimum.
Expansion Slots
The IP35 Pro has three standard PCI slots with a single PCI Express x1 slot and two PCI Express x16 slots—one at x4 bandwidth. There are three onboard SATA connectors with a single PATA and floppy connectors. The board also features a HDMI header to allow full digital audio in conjunction with HDMI compliant graphics cards.
Onboard Ports
The IP35 Pro has four USB 2.0 ports with support for two more on the front panel. There are optical S/PDIF input and output ports to complement the surround sound analog audio outputs. Two of the SATA ports are located on the back panel for external support and there are dual Gigabit Ethernet ports as well.

Abit IP35 Pro (P35) Motherboard
Reviewer: cpu3d.com21 June 2008Overall, the performance of the Abit IP35 Pro was very good. It competes very well against similar motherboards using the same P35 chipset. Only high-end enthusiast boards using DDR3-1333 was superior. The motherboard offers and extensive range of connectivity, which is great. These include 6 internal SATA connections, 6 USB, firewire, dual gigabit ethernet LAN, eSATA ports, optical SPDIF connectors and HD audio connectors. The package comes with all the necessary ... abit IP35-Pro: Houston, We Have a Winner
Reviewer: anandtech.com01 November 2007With that said, abit is launching their IX38 QuadGT board shortly and potentially its greatest competition will at first will be the IP35-Pro. We just hope that abit does not overlook the continued need for first tier support on this board, especially with Yorkfield and Wolfdale launching shortly. The P35 chipset still has a lot of life left in it and is certainly our choice at this time for most Intel users. We congratulate abit on getting back up to speed with its p... Read more

Abit IP35 PRO P35 and AB9 QuadGT P965 Motherboards
Reviewer: hothardware.com26 October 2007Both boards boast exceptional designs, both from functional and aesthetic points of view, and we really like Abit’s SilentOTES noiseless cooling systems. Abit’s latest boards are showing far more refinement and class in comparison to some of their boards in the past, which we’re very glad to see. With Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte launching exceptionally complicated designs, it’s refreshing to see new board launches which are streamlined and relatively clean. Both boards ar... Read more

The A bit IP35 Pro is one of the nicest motherboards that I have reviewed to date. With so many features, it's hard to find a place to start. First, the overall layout is very easy to work with, and I didn't have any real issues with any of the cables or components. The heatpipe cooler for the chipset worked extremely well, as I didn't notice any significant heat on any of the heatsinks. Read more
