The DRW-2014L1T also has several features designed to ensure optimal recording quality. FlextraLink is designed to prevent problems caused by buffer underrun by constantly monitoring the data buffer status. The FlextraSpeed and AI Auto Speed Adjustment technologies ensure accurate and reliable recording by automatically setting the ideal writing speed. Lastly, the DRW-2014L1T features an Auto Vibration Reducing System (AVRS) which reduces the vibrations caused by the drive’s motor and the resonance between the PC’s components.
The Asus DRW-2014L1T features a 2 megabyte data buffer. It supports both horizontal and vertical mounting positions.
The optical drive, which supports both 8 and 12 centimeter discs, has maximum read speeds of 16x for DVD-ROM (Single); 8x for DVD-ROM (Dual); 12x for DVD-RAM; 8x for Double Layer DVD-R/+R; 48x for CD-ROM; and 40x for CD-R/RW.
The DRW-2014L1T has maximum writing speeds of 14x for DVD-RAM; 20x for DVD-R/+R; 8x for DVD+RW; 6x for DVD-RW; 8x for Double Layer DVD+R/-R; 48x for CD-R; and 32x for CD-RW.

Like the DRW-1814BLT before it, the DRW-2014L1T has had its share of growing pains. Early reviews indicated that it suffered from many of the same performance issues as its predecessor. Instead of publishing our own less than flattering review, we put the DRW-2014L1T back on the shelf and gave ASUS a chance to address these issues. This next item up for review is something of a "first" for us here at VH: the Asus DRW-2014L1T . ASUS introduced this drive as an internal DVD rewriter with LightScribe direct disc labeling technology. Along with providing 20x DVD±R writing and 8x DVD±R (DL) and 14x DVD-RAM reading capabilities, it also has data transfer rates that are 5 times that of the current DMA33 standards with the SATA interface. This ASUS drive surprised us with its composure in all of the tests we put it through and it showed that it is ready for prime time. Even though it was compared to a BenQ drive that is almost two years old, its performance in the access time tests was a testament to ASUS's strive towards engineering excellence.
