Samsung SH-S223F

The Samsung SH-S223F is an internal DVD writer that has a tray-type media loader. It supports both 8 and 12 centimeter discs and can be mounted either horizontally or vertically. However, only 12 centimeter discs can be used when the drive is vertically mounted.

This DVD writer, which measures 5.8 x 1.7 x 6.7 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 1.7 pounds, supports a number of disc formats. Among the disc formats it supports are DVD-ROM, DVD-Video, DVD-RAM, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW DL, CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, CD-Audio, Video CD, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-I (FMV), Photo CD, CD Extra, and CD Text.

The Samsung SH-S223F features the Speed Adjustment and Double OPC technologies. Speed Adjustment Technology (SAT) ensures error-free reading by automatically detecting the optical media type used and Double OPC allows for error-free recording. This DVD writer has a 2 megabyte data buffer and is also equipped with Buffer Underrun Free technology which enables high-speed media writing even when using low performance PCs or even when using low cost 16x media.

The SHS223F is also equipped with a number of other technologies including SpeedPlus and Automatic Ball Balancing System (ABS). Because of the Samsung SH-S223F’s SpeedPlus power speed technology, it is able to write at up to 22x with low noise and controlled vibrations. The ABS compensates for disc imbalances caused by warping.
