In addition to HDMI 1.3 and Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD support, most offer support for XM and Sirius satellite radio. All models offer Audyssey automatic speaker calibration, 7.1-channel analog inputs, at least two HDMI inputs and one output, and compatibility with Onkyo’s iPod docks. One user commented that frequency response was excellent even though the TX-SR875 exhibited a very small roll off, of about 0.5 dB per octave, above about 10 kHz in all playback modes, which was not really significant. Whereas another user who purchased the Onkyo TX-SR875 because of it’s extensive features, THX Ultra2, 4 HDMI inputs, upscaling of video, and it’s low distortion numbers. He is quite satisfied as this model with all those features is much less costly than a comparable model having the same features. The Onkyo TX-SR875 handles exceeding well the receiver’s 140 watts per channel rating in all tests except for seven channel simultaneous power, which can be said was not too bad. However the TX-SR875 got quite hot under prolonged power testing. And the fan (which came on only under severe stress) was a bit noisy, though not detectable while playing at the volume required for activating it. The whole system is stunning Given Onkyo’s TX-SR875 amazing features sets namely AV receiver; Sound output mode including Surround Sound; Amplifier total output power: 980 Watt. Due to its specs, pricing, and availability Onkyo seems to be offering the most exciting and surprisingly affordable A/V receivers and buyers see this as an irresistible offer.

The Onkyo's only real design oddity is the way its video switching alters an input signal's white and black levels. It's annoying, but has no lasting negative effects once you readjust the settings on your display. Beyond that, this is an impressive surround sound receiver, with enough features to keep you occupied when you're not actually enjoying its excellent overall audio and video performance. Highly recommended. Read more
I've come to expect stellar bench results from high-echelon Onkyos (and lower-echelon ones, too, usually), and I got them. Noise and distortion measurements were uniformly state of the art. Frequency response was excellent as well, though the TX-SR875 exhibited a very small rolloff, of about 0.5 dB per octave, above about 10 kHz in all playback modes. (In other words, flat to 10 kHz and about 0.5 dB down at 20 kHz.) Not really significant, and if truth be told, probab... Read more

Really solid video processing. My objective was to improve performance while reducing cabling by using only HDMI cables. Does a beautiful job feeding 1080P to a Sony 60A3000 SXRD. Tuning down the SXRD's brightness allows a virtually artifact-free image. Comment Read more
