It has HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) inputs that let users connect two HDMI sources and an output that could support up to 1080p resolution. It also has four SCENE buttons for easier use and also features an upgraded CINEMA DSP programs that provides remarkable sound quality with the latest gadgets such as game machines.

    At pennies under a grand, the Yamaha RX-V861 is a bit of an enigma to me. On one hand, you have its performance, which is exceedingly better than just about everything at or near its price, but it’s wrapped up in this dated-ugly package that screams, “Move on.” While the RX-V861 may not be quite as adept with straight two-channel music, although Yamaha’s DSP settings do help, it’s the RX-V861’s way with multi-channel material I cherish most, for it’s just stunning.     I purchased this unit back in July and have had nothing but great quality sound coming out of this receiver. I used to have a Harmon Kardon receiver and this Yamaha receiver blows it away. I immediately noticed louder and clearer sound quality. The only negative was the instructions for hooking this unit up. It took a good 2-3 hours to get everything working.
