    MS LifeCam VX-7000 USB webcam performs very well as a video conferencing and podcasting tool, and the tight integration between MS multimedia products is an excellent bonus. However, the blurry video capture at higher res makes an empty promise of high-definition video, making the VX-7000 a good camera, but not a great one. Read more

    During my testing phase, the camera sat on my second monitor and ended up pointing toward the window. It's winter time here now and quite a bit of light comes through this window. The camera performed very well, exposing my face so I could be seen easily. Read more

    As far as features go, the $99.95 Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000 is a prime example of an overachiever. It offers a 2-megapixel sensor, works with the major instant-messaging clients, and even has a built-in noise-canceling microphone. But while those features make the camera attractive on paper, the real-world results leave a lot to be desired.     This is a really great webcam, in my opinion. The clip isn't really so much a clip as it is a way to ''hook rest'' it on the top of your LCD monitor or laptop. It would not hold still very well if you're using your laptop on your lap and moving it around, though. I don't know if many webcams that are, either, unless they are built into the laptop screen.
