Anyone who has been following the Sims 2 series may have been anticipating the arrival of The Sims 2: Castaway Wii-format video game. It is a life simulation game published by EA (Electronic Arts) Games.
Game play starts with the Sims going on a yachting trip which unfortunately meets up with a storm. The yacht is completely wrecked so the starting Sim finds himself/herself on the so-called Shipwreck Island. Disoriented Sims now have to learn how to survive so that they do not go crazy on this Shipwrec…

Game play starts with the Sims going on a yachting trip which unfortunately meets up with a storm. The yacht is completely wrecked so the starting Sim finds himself/herself on the so-called Shipwreck Island. Disoriented Sims now have to learn how to survive so that they do not go crazy on this Shipwreck Island. The ultimate mission requires the Sim to either send out an SOS signal, or be able to construct a sturdy boat so head out to sea where a passing cruise ship will pick up the Sim. Ironically, the surviving Sim has the option of returning back to his/her carefree island life or stay on as a responsible though unhappy member of human civilization.

THE VERDICT: As a budget-release expansion pack, Sims 2: Castaway may have worked. As a full-price console game, it's an insult to the millions of Sims fans across the globe. Will Wright must be turning in his grave. Not that he's dead. But it's bad enough it may well kill him if he plays it. Read more

As far as Sims games go, Castaway is a refreshing change of pace that brings some truly unique and enjoyable ideas to the series. Whilst the overall experience is certainly flawed in many ways, if you can look past that (which does become easier with time, with the exception of building limitations) there is a lot of content and options tucked away for you to discover. If you’ve been looking for a decent Sims game for your home console, this could well be it. Read more

As a fan of the sims for the pc i was constantly frustrated that i spent my whole time getting up eating, showering and using the toilet with little time left to work etc. I was unsure that the wii version wasn't going to be much different. I was pleasently surprised it was a little more relaxed and the castaway theme made it a refreshing change. My only critisism is that it was a rather short version. the goals where not hard to complete and even me not a hard core... Read more
