Not everyone can be Tim Henman - some might be thankful for that. But, if Wimbledon taking over the TV gives you a hankering for a spot of racket sport, 2K Sports has something to oblige you. Developed by 2K's PAM Studio over in gay Paris, Top Spin 3 emphasises realistic play. To this end, 2K has included a raft of professional players, including the likes of Andy Roddick, Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova. 2K has put the power to shape your player in your hands. Top... 2. More accessible than its console cousins, but this Wii edition lacks the depth of the 360 and PS3 versions.

Closing Comments Browsing through the IGN review archives, it looks as if Top Spin 3 is the first realistic tennis sim to hit a Nintendo system in over five years – the last was the completely forgettable WTA Tour Tennis for the GameCube. And, before that, you have to go back almost another half decade to find the next most recent was Ubisoft’s All-Star Tennis ’99 on the Nintendo 64. Clearly there’s an opportunity to capitalize on an untapped audience here, and... Read more

Top Spin 3 has the makings of a fun tennis game, especially with its focus on motion-sensitive controls and mini-games, but it's not good. While the controls are okay (and slightly more forgiving than other versions of Top Spin 3), the computer-controlled opponents are too difficult. The presentation is below average, with sub par audio effects and visuals that resemble a first-generation GameCube game. Its mini-games and four-player action (local only, no online) are... Top Spin 3 had an uphill struggle from the start. Releasing a tennis game on a console that comes packaged with one of the best digital versions of the sport ever created can't be easy. Why would Wii owners want to buy anything else when Wii Sports tennis keeps them entertained for hours? This hasn't stopped 2K Sports from trying its hand with Top Spin 3, a game which looks to offer more depth than Nintendo's offering and a selection of licensed tennis professionals. Read more

So, apparently 2K Sports were answering a desperate cry when they put together this tennis simulation for our lovable little motion sensitive friend. No, seriously. I Googled it, and we all know that you simply don’t… doubt… Google. There are forums world over clustered with tennis fans who - while they have fun with Wii Tennis - want to sink their teeth into something a bit more realistic. Apparently (stop laughing) it’s been considered that the Wii had a real... Read more

Tennis, done properly. This might put a lot of people off, especially those of us addicted to the Wii‘s cartoon serves and volleys but Top Spin 3 attempts to put the real life skill, shouts and spins back into the game. It‘s all about timing when you first get onto the court. Holding and releasing the shot button needs pinpoint accuracy (similar to some of the golfing game mechanics around at the moment), in order to get your desired shot‘s spin, direction and...
